Today The Dukeries Academy is celebrating its best ever GCSE results!
Today The Dukeries Academy is celebrating its best ever GCSE results!
The percentage of students achieving 5 A*-C including English and maths is 52 per cent compared to 40 per cent last year – an increase of 12 per cent, which is recognised as outstanding progress.
Alongside this, a new national measurement is being taken, which is a Progress 8 score – identifying the progress made by students in their best 8 subjects. A Progress 8 score of 0 (zero) is considered in line with the national figure. This year, The Dukeries Academy’s overall score was 0.16 which means we are now significantly above the national average.
Principal, Ian Barton, said, “The overall figures are fantastic, and I am so proud of all the staff and students who have worked tremendously hard this year. These results are made up of so many individual success stories and it is so rewarding for us to know that these students are now fully equipped for the next stage of their lives.
“Our highest achievers include Oliver Cooper-Green and Josh Thrower who achieved 16 A*-A grades between them.
“Most progress was made by Harrison Catchpole and Judy Young, who both excelled in their achievements from primary school to the end of GCSE, and this reflects just how hard they have both worked.
“There are, of course, many more and we are delighted for each and every one of them. It is testament to everyone’s hard work and shows, once again, that The Dukeries Academy is well on its way to being recognised as ‘Outstanding’.”
Other specific positives include the academy’s English results which at 75.9 per cent A*-C are the best they have ever achieved by over 10 per cent and the academy’s RE results, with 82 per cent of students achieving A*-C – an excellent achievement.
Ian Cleland, CEO of Academy Transformation Trust, said: “The Trust is delighted with this excellent set of results that reflects the hard work of staff and pupils.
“Complemented by the A-level results it shows what an excellent academy The Dukeries has become.”
