TDA Mobile Phones

Our Academy has been phone-free since 2020, when we first put in place policy, measures and sanctions to ensure that mobile phones are not used during the school day. However, due to a rise in pupils attempting to use phones to access social media or communicate with friends, which is presenting not only distraction from learning but can also present a serious safeguarding risk. As a result of this, mobile phones (and other electronic devices stipulated in the protocol) are not permitted to be used in the Academy at any time.

Mobile phones will be confiscated if seen or heard on site, and will be managed in the same way as other prohibited items.

Summary of Key aspects of this Protocol.

  • If a mobile device, including smart phones, air pods, or any other item is seen in the Academy, these will now be immediately confiscated and held in the Academy reception.
  • Pupils will be expected to hand in any electronic devices if they are seen or heard during the school day. These will be stored securely in our main reception.
  • Pupils will not be able to collect devices from reception. Only a family member will be able to do this. This can only be collected by parents, or a trusted adult, between 08:30 and 16:00 (Mon-Thur) and 08:30 and 15:30 (Friday) from the main reception.
  • If pupils refuse to hand in electronic devices, then our more serious consequences will be applied, such an internal exclusion as we work proactively with families to resolve the incident.
