The Dukeries Academy transformed into Hogwarts for special event

The Dukeries Academy,  created a Harry Potter themed magical 'Family Learning' event at the academy  on 21 June 2016.
The event was attended by around 450 local primary school children from years 4 and 5 who were joined by approximately 165 parents for the science magic show at the end of the day.
Principal Ian Barton made an appearance as Voldermort searching for Harry and followed this with a talk about how learning at The Dukeries Academy is 'magic'.
The event brought learning to life with a range of creative Harry Potter-related activities based on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects.
Pupils participated in some amazing activities including learning about the magical properties of dry ice, an owl display and having fun using the green screen in The Dukeries’ state of the art innovation room.
Feedback from parents was positive with one parent commenting, 'my two children attended the above event at your school. They thoroughly enjoyed the activities that were provided and the experience of visiting a secondary education setting.'
Ian Barton, Principal, said: “We encourage anyone who would like to visit to get in touch with us and we will be happy to give you a tour and speak to you about joining The Dukeries Academy.”
